What is a tincture?

In your search for a quality CBD oil product, you may have come across “tinctures.” If you’ve never heard of tinctures before, they are traditionally a liquid extract of an active ingredient (in this case, hemp) that has been infused into alcohol, glycerin or oil.

We know that many people are sensitive to alcohol, and we wanted to make our products as natural as possible, so we make our Clarify whole-plant, hemp oil tincture using MCT oil from coconuts. This way you get the gentlest, cleanest, high potency hemp CBD oil with all the added benefits of virgin coconut oil!

Why should I use a hemp tincture?

Before the United States enacted prohibition measures in the 1930s, tinctures were the original form of hemp medicine. Cannabis sativa (which includes CBD rich hemp) and preparations derived from it, have been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years.(1) Today, tinctures remain a popular form of therapeutic hemp consumption and are a great entry point for anyone looking to ease into therapeutic use of hemp because they are incredibly gentle but effective, easy to self-titrate (measure) and convenient to take.

Are tinctures safe?

As a vertically integrated company, we control every part of the production process of our whole plant hemp oil tinctures to guarantee you the highest quality product. Our proprietary CBD-rich hemp is grown on our farm here in Colorado. We harvest the hemp ourselves, and process it in our own facility. We use the safest and most effective extraction processes to make sure we maintain the integrity of all the beneficial cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and phytonutrients contained in the hemp plant.

Because we want our product to be as natural as possible, nothing goes into the extraction process except hemp, organic MCT oil and water. Our proprietary process of infusing and extracting allow us to capture all the beneficials from the hemp. After processing, the excess plant matter is filtered out and the water is separated from the oil, yielding the basis for Clarify: our high-potency, whole plant hemp oil. The oil is then tested in-house and by a third party for purity and potency, and formulated for finished products.

Why should I take a whole-plant (full spectrum) hemp oil tincture instead of just CBD?

We believe that a whole plant hemp oil tincture is the best way to take CBD into the body. In addition to CBD, you’re getting the additional cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes that are also found in hemp, and have proven effects on overall health and well being.

Modern herbalists recognize that the healing power of a plant lies in the interactions of all its various components. That includes the drug compounds, but also assorted minerals, vitamins, volatile oils, essential oils, glycosides, alkaloids, bioflavonoids, and other substances, both known and unknown. In addition to the registered “active” ingredients, herbs include buffers, detoxifiers, and synergistic compounds that can greatly enhance the safety and medical efficacy of the active compounds. How do I take my CBD oil tincture?

Tinctures are usually taken by putting your preferred dose under the tongue (this is called sublingual administration). When taken sublingually, the arterial blood supply under the tongue rapidly absorbs the cannabidiol (CBD) and other beneficials in the tincture so they are able to enter the bloodstream more quickly than by other means. You can certainly just swallow your tincture by itself or diluted in juice, tea or water, but it will be absorbed more slowly via the liver.

To administer, just squeeze the dropper bulb to draw your desired amount of product into the pipette, dispense it under your tongue, and hold for up to a minute for maximum absorption. If you need more or less than one dose of Clarify, the dropper makes it very easy to get the exact amount required with no messy measuring.

How much CBD is in Clarify hemp oil tincture?

Clarify whole plant hemp oil comes in two strengths – 250mg and 500mg, depending on your preferred dose of CBD. The 250mg Clarify tincture offers a moderate dose of 6.25mg of premium hemp extract per dropper, and the 500mg Clarify tincture offers a stronger dose of 12.5mg of premium hemp extract per dropper.  Both the 250mg and 500mg strengths of Clarify tincture contain approximately 40 doses per bottle (if you use an entire dropper per dose), giving you over a month’s supply.

How should I store a tincture? What is its shelf life?

When stored in a cool, dark place, tinctures will last for many years. The natural antimicrobial property of the MCT oil used in Clarify has the added benefit of being a preservative, so your tincture will not spoil when stored properly.

Tell me more about coconut MCT oil!

As plant product, coconut oil contains biologically active substances which have been identified to provide nutraceutical/ health benefits. Although studies may take years to probe the pharmacological effects of these substances, there is growing interest worldwide on the role of these biologically active substances to human health. Tocopherols, which are already known as antioxidants, have a role in the prevention of certain chronic diseases like coronary heart disease and cancer. Tocotrienols, said to be better antioxidant than tocopherols, are effective in treating many diseases. Phytosterols have been known to lower blood cholesterol, specifically the LDL “bad” cholesterol. The U.S. FDA has given phytosterols GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status. Phospholipids are important emulsifiers and essential constituents of all living cells.

MCT is a good source of energy not only to the sick and convalescent and healthy individuals but also to preterm infants. Polyphenols are known to help metabolism of certain amino acids in colon cells. Phytochemicals are linked to cancer prevention; mono- and diglycerides as antimicrobial and antiviral substances particularly against lipid coated organisms; flavonoids (isoflavones) and other polyphenols, stanols for preventing/curing some chronic diseases.
